When Jesus Said, “I Am the Resurrection,” He Said a Mouthful

To continue from yesterday’s post – God Died and Was Raised as Christ –  consider now Jesus’ declaration, “I am the resurrection.”

Jesus is the resurrection of God, and therefore the resurrection of everything else as well.  Do you think Jesus too small a figure to encompass all that?  Consider His parable of the seed which first produces a blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head (Mark 4:26-29).  Jesus came as an infant, then an adult, then as a resurrected man, and finally as God (coming full circle).

God gave up His life as God to live as one of us so that He could ultimately redeem us and be God over us once again.  Therefore, when He tells us to lose our lives for His sake, He telling us to do something He Himself has done.

Jesus Christ is the resurrection of God.
