Why don’t skeptics apply their standards of evidence to themselves? | Thinking Matters.

The degree of skepticism which some bring to the Bible is indeed far greater than that which they bring to any other realm of life.

The other irrational behavior I’ve noticed among skeptics is their apparent assumption that there were practically no skeptics in biblical times.  Thus they believe that supernatural explanations were glibly given and received among the population and that’s how they ended up in the Bible.  The biblical evidence, however, indicates that there was a great deal of skepticism about supernatural claims – Jesus’ resurrection being notable among them.  For example, see Acts 17:32 and 26:8.
