Mike Licona explains the As, Bs, Cs, Ds and Es of New Testament reliability « Wintery Knight

The Wintery Knight blog provides a 54:29 minute video of Mike Licona.  Licona uses his experience debating Bart Ehrman and answers the objections that are often made to the reliability of the gospels.  Wintery Knight (he’s preferring to remain anonymous, at least for now) gives an eight-point outline of Licona’s talk, which will help you decide if the content is of interest to you without having to invest the hour of viewing first…or to jump to the part that interests you most.

Licona gives the earliest patristic references to the authors of the four gospels in the first part of the presentation.  Another helpful point Mike repeatedly makes is to implicitly call attention to the much higher standards skeptics require of the New Testament than for other historical documents from antiquity.  That is, skeptics who reject the New Testament should logically reject practically all documents that come down to us from antiquity because the documentary evidence for the New Testament is superior to them all.

Here’s what the title of Licona’s talk refers to:  Authorship, Bias, Contradictions, Dating, and Eyewitness Testimony.
