Children are designed to need mothers and fathers.  When deprived, children suffer and they grow up – if they grow up at all – with more problems than they would otherwise have.

“And he will restore the hearts of the fathers to the children…”
–  Malachi 4:6 (the closing words of the Protestant Old Testament)

This yearning for the restoration of the family as designed by the Creator is part of the “secession of the heart” described by Pat Buchanan.  There are people who want to do right in God’s sight and there are people who want to do right in their own eyes (Judges 21:25).  The divide is growing.
